• We believe that the people living in and around Newark need good access to hospital services and emergency care.
  • Many decisions about NHS services do not seem to be made in the best interests of local people.
  • The Save Newark Hospital Campaign (SNHC) wants to make sure that the concerns of ordinary people are heard by our health providers.
Our vision is to establish Newark Hospital as a treatment centre for the vast majority of emergency cases that do not require specialist care. A centre, that will save the unnecessary movement of patients and allow more people to be treated locally.
This means
  • Suitable level of emergency care and assessment
  • Suitable out of hours cover
  • The reopening of Newark Hospital to admissions 24/7
  • Appropriate protocols with ambulance services that would allow most patients to be taken to Newark Hospital and would permit the return of some emergency ambulances.
  • Telemedicine and support from other hospitals
  • Rotation of staff, so that staff retain skills
  • Improved public and patient transport
  • New look at Friary Ward – With some inpatient beds, psycho geriatric care and respite care
  • The reopening of Castle Ward
SNHC is a non party political group providing a voice for the population of Newark and District campaigning for healthcare services at Newark Hospital that people in the area want expect and is achievable.
